Interior Accommodations Little Harbor offers exceptional interior volume and exquisite woodwork. This fine sailboat, with her classic Herreshoff style interior with white bulkheads and varnished cherry trim is no exception. The accommodations are very comfortable with open living space, excellent natural light and ventilation from numerous deck hatches and stainless opening ports. The cabin sole is teak and holly, enhancing the ambiance.

Master Stateroom The master stateroom is forward with V-berth that can be converted into a king-size double berth with a filler piece. Two large hanging lockers, eight drawers and six shelf lockers provide excellent storage for extended passages or live aboard. The varnished cherry ceilings outboard complement the white bulkheads. A private owner's head is located to port with a separate stall shower and an additional sink to starboard.

Main Salon The main salon features a large semi circular settee to starboard with additional centerline settee providing seating for up to seven around the custom dining table. To port there is a full length straight settee with convertible pilot berth outboard. Both are ideal sea berths. Multiple hull ports in the salon provide water views from all settees. Deck hatches and opening ports provide additional light and ventilation.

Guest Stateroom Aft of the port settee is a guest stateroom with generous upper and lower berths. There is a bureau with drawers and lockers with additional storage under the berths.

Galley The large U shaped galley features generous counter space, a large, front opening refrigerator (14 cu. ft.) and top opening freezer (9 cu. ft.) as well as a microwave oven and stove/oven combination. The galley is safe offshore and conveniently located next to the companionway steps to the pilothouse. Pilothouse The Hood 51 deck salon/pilothouse is low profile, comfortable and secure in all weather. Large fixed ports allow great visibility. The pilothouse incorporates a navigation/chart area with instrumentation. There is a full array of electronics forward on either side of the companionway. The L-shaped settee and table to port provides seating for up to 6 with the feeling of being outside. To starboard is a straight settee. Excellent storage space is found under the pilothouse seating. There is full headroom throughout, even when stepping down from the cockpit.

Design and Construction Rugged fiberglass cored hull and deck construction for maximum strength and thermal and sound insulation. Ted Hood's unique heavier-displacement, low wetted surface hull shape with long sailing waterline length, combined with high-aspect sail plan provides excellent performance including in lighter wind conditions. Vinylester hybrid resin and foam core, laminated with a Kevlar hybrid for added stiffness. The owner chose the optional standard keel/centerboard arrangement with a defined keel like the Little Harbor 53 and 54. This enables the vessel to sail to windward with the board raised unlike most of her sister ship Little Harbor 51's with Ted Hood’s "whale bottom" design that requires the board to be lowered.

Deck Fiberglass sandwich construction with wide side decks and spacious foredeck area. Forward is a large chain locker separated from the living areas by a watertight bulkhead. Twin bow rollers are provided for anchors raised with a Maxwell electric windlass. Aft is the reverse transom with small sugar scoop with swim platform for ease of boarding. The aft cockpit will comfortably seat 6 under sail or at rest and the helmsman can see forward around the pilothouse when seated on the outboard aft cockpit seat.
