Overview
The Hinckley Company has been building high quality boats since 1928. They are perhaps the best production yard in the United States if not the world. They spare no expense on construction and detail. In 1991, the Southwester 43 was voted "Boat of the Year" in the 40-45' category by Sailing World magazine for just this reason. The hull is hand laid up using blister resistant vinylester resin, Kevlar and E-glass with an Airex foam core making it very strong and durable. Hinckley adds a lot of their custom stainless work that adds to the beauty of their boats. From the stem fitting with integral chocks to the bow and stern pulpits, the care of their craftsman is obvious!

Then you have to step down below to see the real craftsmanship! The cherry interior of the SW 43 is as close to perfection as there is! The joinery is clean and flawless. The solid cherry and holly cabin sole a great example of the level of quality seen in this boat!

Accommodations
Starting forward is
a private cabin with a generous V-berth. Forward are two doors that give access to the chain locker. There is plenty of storage here in drawers, overhead compartments and hanging lockers.

Next aft to starboard is the head with seperate stall shower. This is accessed from either the forward cabin or the main salon.
There is great dry storage here. The Vaccuflush head system was installed new in 2007.

Next aft is the salon with a pilot berth and settee to port and a U-shaped dinette to starboard. Behind the settee are bookshelves with enclosed cabinets on either side. The aft cabinette hides a TV and VCR. The doors open and recess to allow the TV to slide out and swivel for a perfect viewing angle. There is also a TV antenna at the mast head for when you are not dockside with cable. There is a cherry dropleaf table on centerline withfolding corners to make getting in and out of the dinette easy. There is storage in the table as well. The dark green Ultrasuede was new in 2005.

The galley is to port of the companionway with the nav station to starboard. The nav station is well laid out with a large desk top for laying out charts. There are three drawers down the side and more storage under the chart table. The Yeoman Chart Kit Plotter fits nicely here making navigation a snap. Looking forward is a cherry instument box with a Silva multifunction display, the Micrologic GPS and the Tank Tender and a shelf above with fiddles. Outboard the SSB, GPS interfaces, Link 10, Heart inverter panel, and VHF are flush mounted. Above the Garmin GPS and Raymarine radar are mounted. Along side is the Bass Products electical panel. Behind here is one of the most immaculately laid out wiring harnesses you will ever see!

Along side the companionway to starboard is a Cherry binocular box!

Extending aft from the nav station is a large quarterberth. There is an enclosed shelf outboard for storage with four louvered sliding doors. A oprhole to the cockpit provides additional ventilation.

There large cabinets aft and outboard. All are accessed by sliding louvered doors. The microwave is just behind the refridgerator.
